The BUFC Soccer School

The Bruno United Soccer School is a premier soccer program without the competitive pressure and time commitment suitable for older children. Offered at various locations around Rhode Island, the Academy is designed to develop the fundamental soccer skills of youngsters between ages 7 and 12 years old.  It introduces area players to our club and familiarizes them with our staff and teaching methods. We focus on fundamentals, particularly skill development and basic tactics, including passing, shooting, dribbling, controlling and heading. Every session ends with small-sided games, and is guaranteed to be fun!

Winter 2008 Review

The second BUFC Soccer School sessions ended Saturday, March 29^th at the JCC-RI in Providence.  The Bruno staff finished the five-week series with a twenty-minute goalkeeper demonstration and soccer ball juggling competition. All of the girls and boys who participated in the school left with smiles and great deal of new soccer knowledge and skills.  Director of Coaching, Gregg Miller and Assistant Director, Nic Rossi were ably assisted by current and former college players from Brown University and JWU.  Topics taught during the five-weeks included passing and receiving, shooting, heading, turning, dribbling, and goalkeeping basics.  In week two, Brown standout Darren Howerton was on hand to show his unique flip-throw – a demonstration that left the children wide-eyed.  Coach Ken Murphy (Brown University Coach and former Bruno Director of Coaching) was the “guest director” in week three. Each week ended with thirty minutes of small-sided games.  The coaching staff marveled at the progress being made by all of the children as they put their new-found abilities into game play.  Stay tuned to the Bruno website and email alerts for details of more Soccer Schools coming your way!
